February 10, 2005 - Yuma, AZ

We're back in the good old  U. S. of A. and happy to be here.  The Mexican trip was mostly good in our opinion.  On a scale of 0 to 10 where 0 is bad, both Barb and I give the trip a grade of 6.5 or 7.  We'll share more about that when we get caught up to that point.  But in the meantime, let's go to Palm Desert (near Palm Springs, CA) and share some Christmas 2004.

Frank and I are solving some of the world's problems sitting on Frank and Susie's patio at the TTN Palm Springs preserve, and across the street is our home, but no patio.

That's a shot of Frank & Susie's place from our place, and then friend John who was also parked here, and Henk and Thea, our Canadian friends who were parked at a different nearby park joined in for the fun and food.

The traditional toast, of course.  And then Susie wanted to take my picture while I was taking hers.  How do you like that fancy digital camera she's using?  Recognize it?  Thea had brought the luminaries as gifts to us, and they made great table decorations besides.

Henk was explaining something quite technical to us, using that knife and fork.  And then another group photo....and the bill of my cap blocking Barb's view of the camera.

So she flipped it up, and in the process doubled over laughing which blocked Henk's view of the camera.  Oh, well.  The next day, Frank and Susie were visiting us and a fly was buzzing around.  So they taught us a new trick.  Take a glass, or in this case a coffee mug, and put a few drops of dish soap in it, making bubbles.  Then when the fly lands on the ceiling (a feat I've enjoyed watching for years) you simply raise the container of soapy bubbles up to the ceiling and the fly drops off into the bubbles, gets trapped, and dies.  And it works!  We've now labeled a disposable glass "FLYCATCHER" and hope for flies to come into our home!  What fun!

Well, as luck would have it, today is February 22, and we're no longer in Yuma, so I'll publish this and start fresh.
