Woke up at 5:30 because of a Mockingbird yelling its head off! What fun. What fun it is to know we're home, and to know that we're not on vacation, even if it still feels like we are.
Headed out for our morning walk with the intentions of walking the mile or so to this huge shopping center for a Starbucks coffee. As soon as we left the park, I got a vague recollection of some of the terrain, and remembered that there was a bike trail that we'd ridden almost 30 years ago. Off to our right we went, and sure enough, found the trail along the American River. Lots of fun trying to remember the names of native plants and birds. Saw a jackrabbit for the first time in several years, and remembered when I was a boy the fun I had hunting the rascals in the hay fields with my .22 rifle. Precious little killing, but lots of great hunting!

I wasn't near quick enough to catch the rabbit, but the post with the horseshoe picture made a good leaning post. At least you get the idea of the kind of terrain and sunshine we're currently enjoying.
